How the Mechatronics Program Finder Works
You don't need to know which school you want yet. Tell the mechatronics program finder what kind of work you want and how you can study, and it does the comparing for you.
You Answer Six Questions
Your credential level, online or campus, where you live, the job you picture, what matters most and anything else worth knowing.
We Read 244 Programs
The program finder keeps the programs at your level and in your format, then reads each one's own description against your answers.
You Get Five Matches
Each match shows a match percentage, the tuition you'd pay, how long it takes and a link to its place in our rankings.
What Our Mechatronics Program Finder Looks At
Your Credential Level
65 certificates, 93 associate degrees, 75 bachelor's and 11 master's programs.
Online or On Campus
15 programs run online or hybrid. Most mechatronics training happens in a lab, so choose campus and the program finder keeps you close to home.
Your Career Goal
166 programs describe robotics training, 231 PLC or controls work, 168 industrial maintenance and 58 an engineering path.
What Matters to You
Low tuition, ABET accreditation, apprenticeships, industry certifications or a quick finish all change which programs rise to the top.
Where You Live
In-state tuition where it applies, and campus programs across 40 states.
Which Mechatronics Program Fits Your Career Goal?
Robotics Technician
Robotics technicians set up, program and repair the robots on a production line. A certificate or associate degree is the usual way in, and 166 programs in our data describe robotics training. Some name the robot makers they train on. Compare them in our best robotics technician training programs.
Automation or PLC Technician
PLCs run almost every automated line, so PLC work shows up in nearly every mechatronics program: 231 of our 244 programs cover PLCs or industrial controls. If programming them is the part you want, start with our best PLC training programs and the automation technician career guide.
Maintenance or Field Service
Maintenance technicians keep a plant's equipment running, and field service engineers do the same work on the road for the companies that build it. An associate degree is the most common start, at a median of $4,400 a year in our data. 168 programs prepare you for maintenance work. See our mechatronics technician guide.
Mechatronics, Controls or Robotics Engineer
Engineer jobs need a bachelor's degree, and an ABET-EAC degree opens the FE and PE licensure path. 58 programs in our data describe an engineering path, 36 of them bachelor's degrees. Starting at a community college? Check that your associate degree transfers. Compare the best ABET-EAC mechatronics engineering programs.
